Unique Requirements Edit

  1. Students complete 30 credits in the humanities concentration
  2. At least three different subjects must be included,
  3. Students must earn at least 12 credits in one subject area
  4. A maximum of 18 credits can be earned in any one subject area in order to have a balanced interdisciplinary concentration.
  5. A maximum of two college-level courses (or 6 credits) equating to the 100 level can be applied toward the area of concentration
  6. A minimum of 18 credits equating to 300 or 400 Thomas Edison State University courses are required.

100-Level Options Edit

  • DSST Art of the Western World
  • CLEP French Level I or II (6 credits)

  • Uexcel Spanish Language (6 credits)
  • Straighterline Introduction to Communications
  • TECEP Introduction to Critical Reasoning
  • Straighterline Introduction to Philosophy.

200-Level Options Edit

Pick two courses (or one 6 credit option) from the following list (additionally, you can replace 100-level options with 200-level options):

  • DSST Principals of Public Speaking

  • DSST Technical Writing

  • DSST Ethics in America

  • CLEP English Literature (6 credits)

  • Analyzing and Interpreting Literature (6 credits)

  • CLEP Spanish Level II (requires a minimum score of 63, six 200-level credits)

  • CLEP French Level II (requires a minimum score of 59, six 200-level credits)

  • CLEP German Level II (requires minimum score of 60, six 200-level credits)

  • TECEP Technical Writing

  • TECEP Environmental Ethics

  • TECEP Music History II

  • TECEP Public Relations Thought & Practice.

300/400-Level Options Edit

Pick at least 18 credits from the following:


  • DSST Introduction to World Religions

  • Straighterline Business Communications

  • Straighterline Introduction to Religion (would probably duplicate DSST)

  • Uexcel Interpersonal Communication (should transcribe as COM-330)

Capstone Edit

  • TESU's LIB-495 Liberal Arts Capstone course is required and can not be transferred in.
